Absolute Pitch as Ground-State Access: Intrinsic Frequency Recognition, the S0 of Tone, and Displacement in Musical Hearing

Rincón, D. · 2026 · Zenodo · ground-state access

This is the record, not the paper. The work itself is the deposit on Zenodo, under the DOI below. What follows is its abstract, as deposited.

Absolute pitch (AP) is formalized as direct access to S0_pitch — stable internal frequency ground states. Relative pitch navigates tonal space by displacement from reference; AP is non-relational. The neural substrate involves enhanced planum temporale tonotopic precision. AP is formed during a critical period (ages 3-6), enhanced by tonal language acquisition, and creates hypersensitivity to pitch displacement.

AP represents the auditory system with S0 permanently encoded rather than computed.
