Chronic Anger-Concealment as Emotional-Suppression Wrong Attractor: The Anger-as-Threat Architecture, Suppression-Routing Basin, and the Return to Calibrated Anger Expression

Rincón, D. · 2026 · Zenodo · emotional-suppression wrong attractor

This is the record, not the paper. The work itself is the deposit on Zenodo, under the DOI below. What follows is its abstract, as deposited.

Chronic anger-concealment is formalized as a wrong attractor W_CAC within the displacement framework: the compulsive suppression and hiding of anger organized around fear of relational damage, abandonment, or appearing bad or dangerous. The healthy ground state S0 is calibrated anger expression — the capacity to feel anger, understand what it signals, communicate it appropriately when warranted, and release it after expression.

Three mechanisms sustain the concealment basin: the anger-as-threat belief (anger is experienced as inherently dangerous to relationships or to the self's moral identity; feeling anger triggers immediate suppression rather than processing); suppression-routing (suppressed anger routes into passive aggression, somatic symptoms, sudden eruptions when suppression capacity fails, or depression — secondary expressions more destructive than direct expression would have been); and concealment-as-virtue loop (suppressing anger is experienced as moral strength or maturity, reinforcing suppression and preventing recognition of the pattern as problematic).

The Concealment Paradox states: chronic anger suppression reliably produces more relational damage than calibrated anger expression would have; the anger that is never expressed accumulates as resentment, poisons the relational atmosphere, emerges indirectly in forms harder to address, and forecloses the honest communication that anger is designed to signal. Nine formal propositions characterize the attractor, with developmental roots in families where anger was dangerous or forbidden.

Return paths include anger literacy practice, IFS work on the anger-concealer and anger exile, graduated direct expression, and somatic discharge.
