Chronic Entitlement as Grievance-Maintenance Wrong Attractor: The Entitlement Narrative Architecture, Grievance-as-Motivation Basin, and the Return to Calibrated Expectation

Rincón, D. · 2026 · Zenodo · grievance-maintenance wrong attractor

This is the record, not the paper. The work itself is the deposit on Zenodo, under the DOI below. What follows is its abstract, as deposited.

Chronic entitlement is formalized as a wrong attractor W_CE within the displacement framework: the sustained sense of being owed things — recognition, treatment, outcomes — that are not delivered; the world continuously fails its obligations; grievance is the organizing affect; life is experienced primarily as a record of unmet dues. The healthy ground state S0 is calibrated expectation: the capacity to hold realistic expectations, receive genuine goods with appreciation, notice genuine violations without organizing experience around them, and engage from a stance of agency rather than grievance.

Three mechanisms sustain the entitlement basin: entitlement narrative (a continuous running account of what is owed and what has not been delivered; events confirming the narrative of being shortchanged are registered with high salience; disconfirming evidence is processed with low salience); grievance-as-motivation (the grievance state provides a sense of justified standing; resolution would require either receiving the owed good or releasing the expectation, both of which feel like loss; the grievance is therefore maintained even when resolution is available); and receiving-as-insufficient reflex (goods actually received are processed as inadequate relative to what was owed; delivery confirms rather than resolves the entitlement claim; the grievance can never be resolved by delivery alone).

The Entitlement Paradox states: chronic entitlement reliably produces the deprivation it is organized to protest; the grievance posture communicates a claim-structure rather than genuine relationship; others withdraw from relational generosity toward the entitled person; the person receives less genuine good-will than they would without the entitlement architecture. Nine formal propositions characterize the attractor.

Return paths include appreciation practice, expectation calibration, and IFS work on the entitlement-manager and deprivation exile.
