This paper frames the pattern as a wrong attractor W within the Phronesis dynamical framework, in which the system has escaped ground state S^0 — calibrated temporal balance — and been captured by a stable but maladaptive configuration characterized by present-moment avoidance.
We introduce the Anticipatory-Immersion Architecture (AIA) as the generative mechanism: a self-sustaining cognitive loop in which the imagined future is experienced as more real, more rewarding, and more tractable than the present. We identify the Present-Moment Foreclosure Basin as the attractor neighborhood that prevents genuine engagement with current experience by making the present feel structurally inadequate.
Nine formal propositions characterize the mechanics, from the primacy of present discomfort as the initiating condition (P1) through anticipation's function as partial reward (P2), the accumulation of unlived present moments (P3), future-self identity lock-in (P4), habitual dissatisfaction with the arrived-at present (P5), the distinction between planning and compulsive escape (P6), the structure of return (P7), gradual recalibration via here-now practice (P8), and the stability conditions for S^0 as a temporal relationship encompassing all three tenses (P9).
The paper concludes with clinical and practical implications for reentry into present-moment experience without the aversive flooding that makes the present seem uninhabitable.
