Chronic Passive Waiting as Life-Deferral Wrong Attractor: The Readiness-as-Precondition Architecture, Present-Deficiency Basin, and the Return to Calibrated Present Engagement

Rincón, D. · 2026 · Zenodo · life-deferral wrong attractor

This is the record, not the paper. The work itself is the deposit on Zenodo, under the DOI below. What follows is its abstract, as deposited.

Chronic passive waiting is formalized as a wrong attractor W_CPW within the displacement framework: the pattern of living in perpetual anticipation of a future condition under which real life will begin — when the weight is lost, the partner found, the degree finished, the readiness achieved. The present is experienced as prologue rather than life itself. The healthy ground state S0 is calibrated present engagement: the capacity to fully inhabit present circumstances while working toward genuine improvements, to act from current reality rather than from an imagined future readiness.

Three mechanisms sustain the waiting basin: readiness-as-precondition belief (action or genuine happiness requires a state of readiness that does not yet exist; this readiness is framed as a future achievement rather than a capacity developed through action; the precondition always recedes as it is approached); present-as-deficient encoding (current circumstances are experienced as categorically insufficient for real living; the deficiency is maintained through selective attention to gaps between present reality and imagined future state); and waiting-as-prudence framing (the passivity is experienced as responsible, careful, or strategic preparation rather than as avoidance; this framing prevents recognition of the pattern and provides identity reward for continued waiting).

The Readiness Paradox states: chronic passive waiting reliably prevents the arrival of the conditions it is organized to await; the readiness that waiting is supposed to produce is actually developed through action rather than preparation; the future self who will be ready is constructed through the present engagement the person is postponing. Nine formal propositions characterize the attractor.

Return paths include present-tense action experiments, precondition-testing, and IFS work on the waiter-protector and readiness exile.
