Gender Dysphoria as Embodied Ground State Mismatch: Identity S0, Morphological Displacement, and the Return Path of Transition

Rincón, D. · 2026 · Zenodo · embodied ground state mismatch

This is the record, not the paper. The work itself is the deposit on Zenodo, under the DOI below. What follows is its abstract, as deposited.

We apply the Displacement Framework to gender dysphoria, treating it as a persistent mismatch between the body's morphological configuration and S0_gender — the identity ground state. The dysphoria is formalized as ongoing displacement cost D(xi) accumulating through proprioceptive, social-perceptual, and interoceptive channels. Transition (social, hormonal, surgical) is the return path.

Misgendering is formalized as external displacement forcing. Non-binary identity is modeled as a multi-attractor landscape. The desistance argument is analyzed as a confusion between stable identity mismatch and transient high-D(xi) exploration. Clinical outcomes data on mental health, suicidality, and surgical regret rates are reviewed through the displacement lens.
