Martyrdom Complex as Self-Sacrifice Wrong Attractor: A Displacement Framework Analysis

Rincón, D. · 2026 · Zenodo · self-sacrifice wrong attractor

This is the record, not the paper. The work itself is the deposit on Zenodo, under the DOI below. What follows is its abstract, as deposited.

This paper applies the Displacement Framework to the martyrdom complex, examining it as a wrong-attractor state in which self-sacrifice becomes the primary identity-maintaining behaviour. Using displacement cost D(ξ), accumulated displacement Φ, and attractor basin geometry, we show how suffering accumulates as social-moral currency, deepening the basin: the subject's cost of exiting martyrdom increases with each sacrifice as identity, relational bonds, and social capital become structured around the suffering role.

Nine formal propositions characterise sacrifice-identity fusion, grievance accumulation as basin-deepening, coercive relational dynamics, and return paths through need-recognition and identity reconstruction. Published as part of The Phronesis Issues preprint series.
