We apply the displacement framework to photosynthesis, treating the light-harvesting reactions, Calvin cycle, and photorespiration as a multi-stage ground state navigation system. The photosynthetic ground state S⁰_photo is the state of maximal proton gradient across the thylakoid membrane and maximal ATP synthesis rate. Displacement D(ξ_photo) is measured as the deviation from optimal photon capture efficiency.
