The healthy ground state S0 is committed relational presence: the capacity to be genuinely present in a chosen relationship, to allow the relationship to matter and shape oneself, to constitute genuine attachment, without maintained reservations that hold the relationship in permanent provisional status.
W_RAM is structurally different from genuine relational uncertainty: it is not indecision about whether this relationship is right, but a characterological pattern of maintaining ambivalence as a relational mode regardless of relationship quality. Three deepening mechanisms are identified: exit-option preservation (the internal exit door is kept open as a structural feature, not because of genuine relational uncertainty); commitment-terror management (ambivalence functions to cap potential loss by capping potential investment); and partial presence induction (the maintained ambivalence produces a partial relational presence that the partner can feel but cannot name, creating chronic subtle frustration).
The central formal result is the Security Paradox: relational ambivalence maintenance reliably produces the relationship loss it is organized to prevent.
