The Animal Displacement Compact (DCA): Ground State Specification, Displacement Taxonomy, and Return Conditions Across the Kingdom Animalia

Rincón, D. · 2026 · Zenodo

This is the record, not the paper. The work itself is the deposit on Zenodo, under the DOI below. What follows is its abstract, as deposited.

The Animal Displacement Compact (DCA) extends the Displacement Framework to cover the full span of Kingdom Animalia — from sponges to cephalopods to great apes. It establishes species-indexed ground states S^0_a for all major animal phyla and classes, specifies the displacement dimensions _a and cost function D(_a) for each, and identifies the primary sources of displacement at civilizational scale.

The DCA introduces three displacement categories: ecological displacement (habitat alteration), industrial displacement (factory farming, aquaculture, captive trade), and physiological displacement (selective breeding for commercial traits at the cost of ground state viability). The compact demonstrates that the primary driver of animal displacement across virtually all phyla is a single institutional structure: the global animal agriculture system, which operates as a Glitch in the formal sense — a stable institutional configuration generating maximal displacement without corrective feedback.

The DCA is not a moral argument. It is a cost accounting. The moral argument is entailed by the accounting.
