The Displacement Framework: Eight Conditions for Cost, Accumulation, and Systemic Extraction

Rincón, D. · 2026 · Zenodo

This is the record, not the paper. The work itself is the deposit on Zenodo, under the DOI below. What follows is its abstract, as deposited.

We introduce the displacement framework, a thermodynamics-inspired formalism for measuring the cost of maintaining any system away from its ground state. Central to the framework is, the accumulated displacement cost, which diverges from net displacement $G = - ||$ constitutes what we term a glitch: surplus extracted from a system that corresponds to no net physical work. We state eight conditions (DC1--DC8) governing ground states, displacement cost, path dependence, and the volume derivation of fair profit.

Applications to financial markets, medicine, ecology, and biology are indicated. The framework provides a unified account of extraction, fairness, and systemic instability across domains.
