Water is not merely a resource within the displacement framework --- it is the medium in which all biological displacement and return occurs. Every cellular displacement happens in water. Every return path runs through water. We develop three nested accounts. At the cellular level, water is the solvent of ion gradients, the substrate of ATP synthesis, the medium of protein folding and cell signaling; dehydration displaces all of these simultaneously.
At the physiological level, even 2\% body water deficit produces measurable cognitive and physical displacement --- making hydration the most fundamental prerequisite for any other return path (exercise, sleep, nutrition). At the planetary level, the water cycle is Earth's primary displacement-return mechanism; aquifer depletion, pollution, and climate disruption are accumulated at civilizational scale.
We then identify the water glitch (): the privatization of water commons, in which rain, rivers, and aquifers are extracted from public access and resold to their original owners at markup. Nestl\'e's Peter Brabeck (2013) --- ``water is not a human right'' --- is identified as the clearest explicit statement of. We close with return paths: filtration technology, plant-based hydration, and water as commons governance.
The most important finding: water is the only displacement-framework input that is simultaneously the medium of all other displacements. Fix water first. Everything else follows.
