W_WF arises because low racial stress tolerance, reinforced by a lifetime of racial insulation, means any racial discomfort exceeds the individual's distress tolerance; the defensive response (denial, anger, withdrawal, appeals for absolution) terminates the discomfort but forecloses learning and re-establishes the attractor.
