// how to play
drift is a field sport. you steer a warm attractor; loose particles bend toward it. a particle that crosses a gate line scores.
controls
move · mouse or finger — the attractor follows the cursor
click / tap — pulse · nearby particles accelerate toward the point
space / double-tap — class ability, named in the bottom-center hud:
void · singularity — pulls every particle to the cursor · 6s cooldown
surge · chain gate — places a fresh gate at the cursor · 8s
phase · freeze — gates stop decaying for 4s · 9s
auto / hold (bottom left) — auto keeps the pull on; hold pulls only while pressed, and pull strength builds while held
restart (bottom left) — replays the current mode from the 3-count
round
a 3-count, then the timer bar along the bottom edge runs down; the round ends when it empties. the end panel shows score, xp gained, and your best. again replays the mode; menu opens the class and mode select, where a click picks a class, select mode confirms it, and a second click starts the chosen mode.
scoring
each particle can cross a given gate once — 1 point, gold gates 3, and every crossing counts for you. in 1v1 and 2v2, particles pulled cold (blue) score for the machine instead, a flat 1 per crossing — gold value and chain multipliers apply to your side only. any crossing, warm or cold, keeps the chain alive. gates fade on their own, so a crossing must land before its gate decays.
scores landing within 2.2s of each other chain a multiplier — x2, x3, x5, up to x10.
every 15 points the field steps up: gates spawn faster, decay faster, and turn gold more often.
score converts to xp — 150 per level. bests save per mode on this device, and every scoring round posts to the shared phronesis leaderboard with your mode, class, and level.
modes
solo — 90s · open field, no opponent
1v1 — 90s · one machine runs a cold attractor against yours
2v2 — 90s · a machine partner pulls warm with you, two pull cold; totals read us / them
zen — 180s · the long round
blitz — 45s · the short round
// glitch — 60s · distortion climbs as the timer falls; particles jitter and gates decay faster
tip
the chain outscores any single gate. keep one dense cluster and sweep it through fresh gates so crossings land inside the two-second window — a x10 on a gold gate pays 30.
