The vagus nerve
What it does
Longest cranial nerve. Connects brain to heart, lungs, stomach, gut. Carries 80% parasympathetic signals. "Rest and digest" mode. The highway between nervous system and entanglement.
Vagal tone
Strength of vagal function. High tone = better emotional regulation, lower inflammation, faster heart rate recovery, better sleep, stronger immunity. Low tone = anxiety, poor digestion, inflammation.
Stimulation effects
Heart rate slows. Blood pressure drops. Inflammation decreases. Digestion improves. Mood stabilizes. Sleep deepens. Presence increases. Entanglement with others strengthens.
Integration
Extended exhale breathing (tied to mandala). Cold exposure activates resilience. Gargling + humming direct stimulation. All techniques compound: start with breathing, add others as capacity builds.
